• Julie Kelly, DVM

  DVM

  Dr. Julie Kelly has been with VCA Aspenwood since October 2000. Dr. Kelly truly enjoys general practice but her areas of special interest are Endoscopy, Soft Tissue Surgery, Dentistry and Exotic medicine. When not off in the wilds of South Africa working with Rhinos, Giraffees, Sable Antelope and Elands or here at the clinic she spends her time with her husband, 3 beautiful daughters, 2 Australian Shepherds Effie and Tele, and one Jolly male domestic short hair cat, McClarin. .

• Laura Hedlin, DVM

  DVM

  Dr. Laura Hedlin graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Upon graduation she worked at a general practice clinic in Iowa for 2 years after which she moved onto Wisconsin where she was at another general practice clinic for 2 years. Dr. Hedlin moved to Denver in 2001 when she joined the VCA Aspenwood family. Dr. Hedlin enjoys working with senior/geriatric patients and assisting their owners in caring for their aging four legged family members. In her time away from the clinic she enjoys road biking, skiing, and spending time in the mountains with her 2 dogs, Beau, a Labrador Retriever and Barron, a Chihuahua. She also has 2 cats at home Bailey, Squirt.

• Isabel Grillo, DVM, cVMA

  DVM

  Dr. Isabel Grillo graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She then finished an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Arizona Veterinary Specialist. During her internship and up until moving to Colorado in 2006 she was also practicing emergency medicine. Dr. Grillo started working at VCA Aspenwood in the summer of 2006. She has a particular interest in emergency, critical care, internal medicine, physical therapy and weight control. Dr. Grillo was born and raised in Puerto Rico and speaks fluent Spanish. When not at work Dr. Grillo enjoys spending time with her husband, Wayne and daughter Marialicia. The other members of her family include her cats: Tigger Maria, Sabino and Elizabeth and her dogs: Hailey a 5 year old husky and Cinnamon a 7 year old Chihuahua.

• Katie Waisanen

  DVM

  Dr. Katie Waisanen will be joining VCA Aspenwood on September 3rd. Please join us in welcoming her to the VCA Aspenwood family. Dr. Katie Waisanen graduated from Shippensburg Universtiy in Pennsylvania with a Masters of Science in Biology in 2008, where her research focused on box turtle behavior. She then moved to Virginia for veterinary school and graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After graduation, Dr. Waisanen worked as a samll animal veterinarian in southern Virginia until moving to Denver August 2013. She has special interests in exotic pet medicine and surgery, neurology, and emergency medicine. Away from work, Dr. Waisanen enjoys antiques as well as home and car repair projects. At home, she has a crazy crew of pugs, cats and two pug and cat herding border collies.
